Donor Thank You Letter Templates

Showing your donors gratitude is not only crucial to running a successful charity, it’s simply the right thing to do.

But when it comes to the ins and outs of donor thank you letters, even the kindest souls can always use fresh ideas.

Tips:

-Tell a story. People connect with stories and it is an excellent way of showing how the donor’s contribution helped.

-Make it personalized. Yes, you’re about to download a template, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t include specific examples when filling it out. Your donor’s name, contribution size and date given, and, when possible, the reason they chose your charity, should all be included.

-Don’t forget to give them a glimpse of your mission and what the future looks like for your organization. These letters are a great time to reinforce the values your donor connected with in the first place.

-Leave the door open for future donations. First time donors and long time donors alike need to be looked at in a similar fashion as customers of a for-profit business: entice them to stay engaged with your charity.

As promised, here is your Financial Contribution Thank You Letter Template as well as an Event Sponsorship Thank You Letter.

Standing out from the crowd: Six ways to help your organization get noticed

I am a volunteer, and I am a donor. I donate to Christopher and Dana Reeve’s charity for spinal cord injury and research. Why? Because my father has a spinal cord injury.

See the connection? It’s personal for me, which makes it fairly easy for me to choose where my time and money is spent. But there are several other charities doing similar work, why not those? Well, because along with my dad, Superman was my hero growing up.

But it isn’t personal for everyone and not everyone’s childhood heroes suffer traumatic injury like mine did. A majority of people donate for other reasons, such as seeing a charity that makes a big impact or one that gives back directly to their community.

Online Technology is Key To Supporting Charities

Affordable Software Will Increase Efficiency & Capacity

Kitchener, Ontario: Canadians volunteer 2.2 billion hours of their time a year, equivalent to 1 million full-time jobs. TD Bank Group estimates this is worth $50 Billion to the Canadian economy. In a time of economic downturn, Canadians may continue to be engaged with their volunteer initiatives even moreso, and charities and non-profits will struggle to maintain this efficiency without proper technology. Technology is essential in tracking and managing such a high volume of volunteer activities.

Charity Republic, a Kitchener-based software company specializing in solutions for charities, non-profits and schools, has introduced new volunteer management software to support volunteer managers and coordinators to better manage relationships with volunteers and increase capacity for their organizations. Many organizations in Canada would not exist without volunteers, and they often struggle to continue building relationships with new and existing volunteers.

In order to benefit as many charities and non-profits as possible within Ontario, Charity Republic has partnered with the Ontario Volunteer Centre Network (OVCN). Additionally, “grassroots” organizations (volunteer driven organizations with limited budgets) will be given full access to Charity Republic’s software for free – that includes the Waterloo Family Centre Community Hub based out of Family & Children’s Services of the Waterloo Region.

“As a social enterprise, volunteerism permeates all of our software programs and services, and major business decisions. Our mission is to provide meaningful volunteerism and community engagement through technology. As a team of lifelong volunteers, it is important for us to support organizations to achieve their fullest capacity and volunteerism is a key means to that end,” said Popy Dimoulas-Graham, Founder and CEO of Charity Republic.

Charity Republic is already working with over 35 school districts and universities across Ontario, including 10 out of a total 12 French school boards, helping their students and teachers to track and manage co-operative education, community-service learning, practicums, and volunteer hours and activities. As a Canadian-based social enterprise, we are proud to support Canadian charities and non-profits. Our focus is on solving volunteer managers’ biggest challenges by:

  • Creating efficiencies via a web and mobile solution that can be accessed by volunteers and manager’s anywhere.
  • Offering a specifically tailored, all-in-one software tool, for scheduling, tracking hours and activities, reporting, and communicating with volunteers.

About Charity Republic: A software company specializing in solutions for charities, non-profits, and schools that seeks to empower individuals and organizations to promote positive social change through volunteerism and community engagement.
